What is E-BRIDGE?
The E-BRIDGE portal is a free online source of information and materials about the historical and cultural heritage of Romania-Bulgaria border area.
It gives unlimited access to people from and outside the cross-border area to remote exchange of knowledge, skills and experience in the fields of history, culture, literature, architecture, archaeology, traditions and folklore of the two sides of the border, namely between the two target regions - Dobrich and Constanta.
How was the E-BRIDGE portal created?
The E-BRIDGE portal is created as a main part of the project “Building a virtual bridge between people through development of a portal presenting and preserving the historical and cultural heritage in the cross-border area for sustainable growth and development of the region’s image and identity.”
The project is a joint initiative of the Bulgarian and Romanian organizations and is implemented in the framework of the Romania-Bulgaria Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013 under Priority Axis 3 - Economic and Social Development.
Why was the E-BRIDGE portal created?
The development of the E-BRIDGE portal is in full consistency with the programme’s strategy for bringing together the people, communities and economies of the Romania-Bulgaria border area to participate in the joint development of a cooperative areas, using its human, natural and environmental resources and advantages in a sustainable way.
The primary purpose of the project is to leverage on the unique cultural and historical advantages (history, culture, literature, architecture, archaeology, traditions and folklore) from the two sides of the border and to build a virtual bridge between people and communities, through development of an attractive, accessible and high-quality portal for improved access to information and knowledge exchange.
The achieved results of the project will create a strong identity of the area, which will stimulate interest in and outside borders. This will help in achieving much needed economic growth in the fields of education, tourism and territorial development, by presenting the two regions as a place with favourable image and regional identity where foreign investments and tourist services can be easily promoted.
